Privacy Policy

What Chamet collects when you use 1v1 video chat, live streaming and party rooms, what it is used for, and what you can ask us to do with it.

  • Camera: your choice
  • Cookies: browser-controlled
  • Deletion: on request
  • No sign-up needed to try

The one thing worth knowing before anything else: the biggest privacy risk on any video chat product is not the platform's database — it is what you show and say to the person on the other side, which they can capture with a second device no matter what we build. The Safety Center is the practical companion to this page, and worth five minutes before your first call.

Scope of this policy

This policy covers the Chamet website and the Chamet app experience — matching, video calls, live rooms and accounts. It does not cover third-party services Chamet relies on to run (they handle data under their own policies), and it does not cover external sites you reach by following a link out of Chamet.

What we collect

Three buckets, in plain terms. Nothing here should surprise you if you have used the product.

Account information you give us

When you register, we hold the details you sign up with — a nickname, a login method, the profile content you choose to add. When you write to support or file a report, we keep that too, so the conversation has context. If you buy coins for longer or premium sessions, the purchase record is kept by the payment side of the product.

Device and usage data collected automatically

Running a live product generates technical data: device and browser type, IP address and the general region it implies, pages and features you use, and diagnostic logs when something breaks. This is what lets matching work and lets us see which parts of the app need fixing.

Camera and microphone permissions

Your browser asks for camera and microphone access before any call, and granting it is your decision. Live video and audio go to the person you are connected with, for as long as that conversation lasts. You can revoke the permission in your browser or device settings at any point — the how it works page walks through the first-call flow step by step if you want to see exactly when the camera turns on.

1v1 video chat on Chamet — camera and microphone permission is always your choice
Video chat starts only after you grant camera and microphone access — and you can take that permission back whenever you like.

How we use it

Everything collected above feeds a short list of purposes:

  • Running the product — accounts, instant matching, calls, live rooms, translation, gifts
  • Purchases — processing coin orders and keeping billing records straight
  • Safety — reviewing reports, investigating fraud and abuse, enforcing the rules
  • Fixing and improving — finding what crashes, what lags, what nobody uses
  • Answering you — support, privacy and data requests
  • Legal obligations — where a law requires us to keep or hand over records

What other users can see

Your profile and whatever appears on your camera are visible to the people you connect with — a match in a private call, a room full of listeners, or an audience when you go live through live streaming. That visibility is the point of the product, but treat it as publishing: once another person has seen something, no setting can pull it back.

Screen recording and a second phone camera work regardless of anything we do. So the honest rule is about your own judgment, not a feature we can sell you: share gradually, and keep your address, workplace and financial details off camera entirely.

Sharing

We will not pretend data never leaves Chamet — a live product cannot work that way. Information may be shared with:

  • Service providers that operate parts of the product — hosting, payment processing, analytics — bound by their own obligations
  • Other users, to the extent described in the section above
  • Authorities, where the law requires it or where it is necessary to address illegal activity or a genuine risk to someone's safety
  • A successor, if the business or its assets ever change hands

One clarification people ask about: a report you file goes to the moderation team for review under the community guidelines. It is not forwarded to the reported user as a message from you.

Cookies

Chamet does not run a separate cookie policy page — this section is it. Cookies and similar technologies keep you signed in between visits, remember preferences, support security checks, and tell us in aggregate how the product is used.

Your browser gives you the controls: you can clear cookies, block them entirely, or allow them per site. Blocking everything is your right; just expect sign-in and a few other pieces to stop working without the functional ones.

Data retention

Data is kept while your account is active and for as long afterwards as the purposes above require. Safety, fraud and billing records in particular may need to outlive an account closure where an obligation or a dispute calls for it. Retention differs by data type, so rather than print a single invented number, ask support about your specific case and you will get a straight answer.

Your rights and choices

You have more control than most people bother to use:

  • Camera and microphone — grant or revoke in your browser or device settings at any time
  • Cookies — clear or block them in your browser
  • Profile — you decide what goes on it; less is fine
  • Blocking — one tap stops a specific person from reaching you again
  • Access, correction, deletion — request any of these from support

Depending on where you live, the law may give you additional rights over your data. The Help Center covers the common account questions; anything about your data specifically, take straight to the email below.

Access and deletion requests

Write to us from the email address registered to your account and say what you need — a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion. We may ask you to confirm you are the account holder before acting. That check is not bureaucracy for its own sake: without it, anyone who knows your email could request — or delete — your data in your name.

Children

Chamet is not for minors. The Terms of Service set the age requirement, and the product is not directed at children. If you believe someone underage is using Chamet, report the account and it will be reviewed and removed.

International transfers

Chamet connects people in more than 200 countries and regions, and the service providers behind it may process data in a country other than yours, where data-protection law may be different. Using Chamet involves that transfer — if you are not comfortable with it, the honest advice is not to use the product.

Changes to this policy

This page changes as the product does. When an update is material, we will make it visible where reasonably possible; continuing to use Chamet after an update means you accept the new version. Worth a re-read now and then.

Contact

Privacy questions and data requests go to support[at]chamet.cc — retype the [at] as a normal @; it is written that way to keep address-harvesting bots off it. For general questions that are not about your data, the contact page routes you faster.

Share at your own pace

The practical summary of this whole page: you control the camera, the profile and the conversation, and your first match is free with no sign-up needed to try. Start with whatever you are comfortable showing — and build from there only if the person earns it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Chamet record my video chats?

Live video and audio are transmitted to the person you are matched with for the duration of the conversation. What the other person captures with a second device or screen recorder is outside any platform’s control — share gradually and never show anything you would not want saved.

Who does Chamet share my information with?

Service providers that run parts of the product (hosting, payments, analytics), the users you interact with to the extent described on this page, and authorities where the law requires it or someone’s safety is at risk. Each category is explained in the sharing section above.

How do I request a copy or deletion of my data?

Email support[at]chamet.cc from the address registered to your account and tell us what you need — access, correction or deletion. We may verify you are the account holder first, so someone else cannot request your data in your name.

Can I use Chamet without accepting cookies?

You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings at any time. Some are needed to keep you signed in and keep the site secure, so parts of the product may stop working without them — but the choice and the controls are yours.
